Urge Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards to Prevent Other Big Cats from Suffering Like Tony!
Tony, a Siberian-Bengal tiger, endured a lifetime of captivity at the Tiger Truck Stop, owned by Michael Sandlin in Grosse Tete, Louisiana. Held captive in a cage in a gas station parking lot for over a decade, Tony lived with the stench of exhaust and the drone of diesel engines. The Animal Legal Defense Fund fought tirelessly for over six years to free Tony, but tragically, Tony passed away in October 2017 still in Michael Sandlin’s possession.
The Louisiana Big Cat Ban, passed unanimously in 2006 by the Louisiana legislature, bans the private ownership of tigers. But Michael Sandlin remains determined to keep profiting off of tigers as a “roadside attraction” and announced his intention to obtain another tiger soon after Tony’s death.
Sign the petition urging Louisiana’s governor to take all possible action to uphold the Louisiana Big Cat Ban and prevent Sandlin and others from privately possessing big cats to ensure no other tigers reside at the truck stop in the future.
